In a fast-paced world, these apps enable Christ-followers to integrate their faith seamlessly into their daily lives, promoting spiritual growth, understanding, and a more profound connection to the timeless teachings of the Bible. Embracing technology, these applications empower Bible believers to carry their faith in the palm of their hands, ensuring that the transformative power of scripture remains accessible and relevant in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Matthew Henry Bible Commentary
An easy and convenient way to study the Holy Bible is provided by this tool. Originally written in 1706, Matthew Henry's six-volume Complete Commentary offers an exhaustive look at every verse in the Bible.
Matthew Henry's well-known six-volume Exposition of the Old and New Testaments (1708–1710) or Complete Commentary provides an exhaustive verse-by-verse study of the Bible, covering the entire Old Testament, and the Gospels and Acts in the New Testament. After the author's death, the work was completed (Romans through Revelation) by thirteen other nonconformist ministers, partially based upon notes taken by Henry's hearers, and edited by George Burder and John Hughes in 1811.
Matthew Henry's commentaries are primarily exegetical, dealing with the scripture text as presented, with his prime intention being explanation for practical and devotional purposes. Although not a work of textual research, for which Henry recommended Matthew Poole's Synopsis Criticorum, Henry's Exposition provides the result of a critical account of the original as of his time, with practical application. It was considered sensible and stylish, a commentary for devotional purposes.
Famous evangelical Protestant preachers such as George Whitefield and Charles Spurgeon used and heartily commended the work, with Whitefield reading it through four times - the last time on his knees. Spurgeon stated, "Every minister ought to read it entirely and carefully through once at least."
Henry's reputation rests upon his renowned commentary, An Exposition of the Old and New Testaments (1708-10, also known as Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible). He lived to complete it only as far as to the end of the Acts, but after his death, other like-minded authors prepared the remainder from Henry's manuscripts. This work was long celebrated as the best English commentary for devotional purposes, and the expanded edition was initially published in 1896. Instead of critical exposition, Henry focuses on practical suggestions, and his commentaries contain rich stores of truths.

Not Just Words
"Not Just Words, "is a Bible Search app that surpasses the typical search functionalities. Beyond searching for specific word combinations, it intelligently seeks other forms and synonyms of the search words. For instance, searching for "pray" automatically includes results for "prays," "praying," "prayer," "prayers," and "prayed."
What sets this app apart is its use of a thesaurus, which further broadens the search. A search for "speak" extends to verses with "talk," "uttered," and more – all accomplished in a fraction of a second.
Users can also search for references like "Rom 1:4" or combine references like "Gen 1:1; Ex 12:1," and even combine these with other searches to narrow them down. For example, a search for "pray in Romans" identifies references to prayer specifically in the book of Romans.
The app accommodates searches for phrases like "holy spirit," utilizing the thesaurus for each word in the phrase. Users can combine searches with "and," "or," "not," or "near" to find words within a couple of verses of each other.
Moreover, the app supports multiple Bible versions, including AMP, ASV, CCB (Simplified and Traditional), CEB, CEV, CSB, CUV (Simplified and Traditional), DARBY, ESV, GNT, ICB, JCB, JCOL, JLB, KJV, MSG, NASB, NIV, NIV1984, NKJV, NLT, NRSV, TLB, WEB, WEBLWT, WYC, and YLT. Advanced search features even include the Japanese Colloquial Version and settings for recognizing specific kanji in Japanese or characters in Chinese.
For those uninterested in Japanese or Chinese, the app provides the option to disable these features. Additionally, users can establish a daily reading plan, with the option for the phone to read it aloud using Siri's voice during commutes. Non-intrusive reminders can help users stay on track, and these can be disabled as well.
Notably, all Bible data is stored locally, requiring no internet connection for reading or searching. With "But Not Just Words," users can find the verses they seek and make the most of every opportunity for spiritual engagement.

Verse Locker
The Verse Locker app, developed by Scripture Memory Fellowship, is available on iOS and Android devices, as well as through a web app.
One notable advantage of this app is its free usage, offering users unrestricted access to its features and allowing them to work with an unlimited number of verses.
Among its features are familiar tools such as a scripture typer and a word blurring tool, gradually obscuring more words in a verse. Unique to Verse Locker is the ability to listen to audio readings of the verses and display the first letter of each word as a memory prompt.
In comparison to the Bible Memory app, Verse Locker offers a more flexible approach. Users have the freedom to choose from various tools for memorizing passages within the app. However, this flexibility may contribute to a slightly less streamlined user experience in terms of overall flow. Unlike the Bible Memory app, which guides users through the scripture typer feature to 'learn' a verse, Verse Locker allows for more user-driven customization in the memorization process.
